‘3 Idiots’ Producer’s Son, Agni Chopra, Who Surpassed Don Bradman, Slams Ranji Trophy Double Ton

Posted on October 28, 2024 By admin

Agni Chopra, son of ‘3 Idiots’ producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and film critic Anupama Chopra, continued his excellent run of form in Ranji Trophy as he slammed another double century for Mizoram. This was his second consecutive double ton in the competition as he slammed 218 off just 269 deliveries against Manipur. Agni has been a sensational performer in the Ranji Trophy Plate League and he scored four consecutive centuries at the start of his first-class career. Agni slammed 105, 101, 114, 10, 164, 15, 166 and 92 in his first four Ranji games to become the first batter to score centuries in his first four first-class encounters – a record that even the legendary Don Bradman was not able to achieve in his career.

Agni, whose father directed the critically acclaimed film “12th Fail” and produced the all-time blockbuster “3 Idiots”, dreams of playing in the IPL.

“May be I am not good enough so I wasn’t picked (in the IPL auction). For me, I want to be picked for anything based on my pedigree, it shouldn’t be because of anything else. I don’t think my dad would ever pick up the phone and tell anyone just because I told him to. I have to be good enough so that they are calling my dad, rather than my dad calling them,” Agni told PTI.

“If something like that (his father pulling ranks) happened, may be I will be picked in squad, but surely, would not get to play in the eleven. I don’t want to be in a team where I am picked because of a phone call and then I am not going to play.” he added.

Manipur’s Playing XI:

Karnajit Yumnam, Al Bashid Muhammed, Kangabam Priyojit Singh, Johnson Singh, Langlonyamba Keishangbam (c), Pheiroijam Jotin, Rex Rajkumar, Prafullomani Singh (wk), Sultan Karim, Ahsanul Kabir, Bishworjit Konthoujam

Mizoram’s Playing XI:

Lalhriatrenga, Marty Lalrinhlua, Agni Chopra, Jehu Anderson (wk), Joseph Lalthankhuma, KC Cariappa, Vikash Kumar, Moses Ramhlunmawia, Bobby Zothansanga (c), G Lalbiakvela, Mohit Jangra
